What changed on Tallyworks
- Ohio City Income Tax
Resident credits confirmed for all six Ohio cities
Akron, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo give a 100% credit for tax paid to another city, capped at 2.5%; Youngstown caps it at 2.75%. The calculator now fills these in automatically.
- Ohio City Income Tax
Toledo rate corrected to 2.5%
Toledo’s income tax has been 2.5% since January 1, 2021. Some third-party sites still list 2.25%; we corrected our figure against the city’s own guidance.
- Detroit Income Tax
Michigan personal exemption updated to $5,900
Michigan’s personal exemption rose from $5,800 in 2025 to $5,900 for 2026. Detroit’s city exemption stays at $600.
- Philadelphia Wage Tax
Remote-work rule for non-residents clarified
Philadelphia applies a requirement-of-employment test: only days your employer requires you to work outside the city are exempt. Working from home by choice remains taxable.
- Philadelphia Wage Tax
Philadelphia wage tax lowered to 3.735% and 3.425%
From pay dates on or after July 1, 2026, the resident rate is 3.735% and the non-resident rate 3.425%, down from 3.74% and 3.43%.

2026 federal brackets and standard deduction
The standard deduction is $16,100 for single filers and $32,200 for married couples filing jointly, with brackets adjusted for inflation.

Social Security tax of 6.2% now applies to wages up to $184,500 in 2026.
